A bit about me.

Hi, and thank you for visiting my blog. Iā€™m Donna and I founded Sew-Not-Mature in the Summer of 2019, shortly after completing a degree in Fashion and Dress History at University of Brighton as a very mature student!

My studies reawakened my passion for fashion and dress and in particular, home dressmaking, which I have enjoyed for more years than I care to mention. I have City & Guilds qualifications in fashion and dressmaking, as well as having attended numerous part-time courses in fashion design, pattern cutting and sewing, including at the London College of Fashion.

Whilst I love fashion, I do not love fast fashion - all too often its poorly made, ill-fitting, exploitative, damaging to the environment and a major cause of body image anxiety. Hence the blog! Sew-Not-Mature was set up largely as a result of my frustration with high street fashion and a desire to share fashionable, hand-crafted style with midlife women who want well-fitting clothes that express their style and individuality, along with the confidence to stand out from the crowd.
